Product Description
The VN-18 is equipped with a two-man turret, mounting a 30mm cannon. On each side of the turret are a single-rail missile launcher for firing wire-guided HJ-73C anti-tank missiles with a range of 4-5 km. A 7.62mm coaxial machine gun is mounted to the left of the main gun. A 12.7mm machine gun can be mounted on top of the turret. Two smoke grenade launchers are mounted on each side of the turret.
Design and Protection
The VN-18’s layout consists of three main parts: the engine compartment at the front, the turret in the middle of the hull, and the crew compartment at the rear. The vehicle has a crew of three, including a driver, commander, and gunner, and can accommodate up to ten fully armed soldiers. The driver is located on the left side of the front hull, with the engine on his right. The commander and gunner are located inside the turret. Crew members enter and exit the vehicle through a single door that opens to the right at the rear of the hull. Both the hull and turret utilize a fully welded steel armor structure, capable of withstanding small arms fire and artillery fragmentation.
Mobility
The VN-18 is powered by a powerful engine, enabling high-speed navigation on water. The power unit is mounted at the front of the vehicle. It has a maximum land speed of 65 km/h and a maximum water speed of 45 km/h. Its maximum range is 500 km, and it can climb 60% gradients and 30% side slopes. It can traverse vertical obstacles up to 0.7 meters high and trenches up to 2 meters deep. It features a large, flat, boat-shaped hull, equipped with six dual road wheels and three track rollers. Armor plates can be added to the upper part of the suspension system.
The VN-18 is an all-terrain amphibious vehicle, propelled in water by two large waterjet propulsion units mounted at the rear of the hull. Its standard configuration includes a satellite navigation system, night vision system, nuclear, biological and chemical protection system, fire control computer and laser rangefinder. All of these devices enable the vehicle to have “beyond visual range” day and night amphibious combat capabilities.
