Product Description
The LD-2000 is equipped with a seven-barreled cannon, its appearance resembling the Dutch Golkeeper close-in weapon system. The prototype of the LD-2000 was mounted on a domestically developed Chinese 8×8 truck, but newer models combine the close-in weapon system with a surface-to-air missile system, mounted on the Wanshan WS-2400 (a Chinese copy of the Russian MAZ543 missile launcher) 8×8 heavy-duty wheeled chassis, thus possessing enhanced off-road capabilities. When the system enters combat mode, four hydraulic stabilizers lower to the ground.
The remotely controlled 30mm cannon turret is mounted at the rear of the truck. Two ammunition boxes each hold 500 rounds of detected ammunition (high-explosive anti-tank rounds and armor-piercing discarding sabot rounds). Typically, one ammunition box is filled with armor-piercing discarding sabot rounds, and the other with high-explosive rounds. Empty shell casings are ejected forward from the bottom of the turret. This seven-barreled 30mm cannon is externally powered, with a maximum theoretical rate of fire of 4600 to 5800 rounds per minute. The gun has a maximum range of 3000 meters, but its typical engagement range is 1000 to 1500 meters.
Six TY-90 missiles are mounted in a box-shaped launcher. These missiles are equipped with specially designed seekers for attacking helicopters operating in near-ground environments and vulnerable to jamming. The missiles also carry a 3 kg high-explosive warhead, sufficient to cause significant damage to armored attack helicopters. The missiles have a range of 300 meters to 6 kilometers.
The Type 347G tracking radar is mounted on top of the turret and is equipped with a day/thermal imaging aiming system that integrates a laser rangefinder. The gun is operated by a gunner in a fully enclosed module located behind the driver’s compartment. An anti-aircraft/air-defense version of the system is also equipped with a low-altitude target search radar mounted on the mast near the driver’s compartment. If necessary, the weapon system can also be used in conjunction with a separate target acquisition radar with a longer detection range.
