SH5 105mm self-propelled howitzer

Product Description

The SH5 105mm howitzer is a typical lightweight, highly mobile vehicle-mounted howitzer, possessing excellent tactical and strategic mobility. It features a simple, low-profile design, utilizes a high-performance off-road vehicle chassis, and boasts a lightweight system, long range, high accuracy, and powerful firepower, along with information and digital capabilities. During its development, key technologies such as overall optimized design, integrated vehicle-gun construction and lightweighting, high-efficiency protection, firing stability, four-wheel steering, and integrated fire control and information systems were successfully implemented.

The SH5 vehicle-mounted howitzer has a combat weight of less than 11 tons, a 40-round ammunition capacity, a maximum rate of fire of 8 rounds per minute, and a maximum range of 18.2 kilometers (base bleed projectiles). It uses a 6×6 off-road truck chassis, achieving a maximum road speed of 100 km/h. The chassis features front-to-rear axle steering, a turning diameter of less than 13 meters, and a central tire inflation/deflation system. It has a minimum ground clearance of over 400 mm, a wading depth of 1 meter, and strong off-road capabilities.

The SH5 possesses strong firepower, capable of firing M1 high-explosive shells, base-bleed shells, or base-explosive projectiles, and can fire within an elevation range of 0° to +70° and a forward and left/right range of 30°. It is equipped with a complete range of ammunition types.

The SH5 features an advanced fire control system, enabling rapid battlefield response. The transition time between marching and combat is only 45-50 seconds. The entire process—from marching to combat, firing 6 shells, and then back to marching—can be completed within 2 minutes, allowing for immediate engagement and swift withdrawal, significantly enhancing battlefield survivability.

The SH5 system employs an optimized design approach, resulting in a well-balanced center of gravity and excellent driving stability. The gun utilizes a high-end face-frame chassis, forming an integrated support structure with the jacks and spades, effectively bearing the recoil load during firing and ensuring good firing stability.

The SH5 chassis system is based on a high-mobility off-road vehicle, featuring full-time 6×6 drive. The transmission uses an integrated transmission and transfer case structure. This gun can operate normally in various adverse road conditions, including rugged and muddy terrain, demonstrating strong off-road mobility.

The two spades at the rear of the SH5 chassis are lowered during firing to improve the gun’s firing stability.

The SH5 integrates a fire control and information management system. The fire control system consists of a gunner’s terminal, fire control computer, fire control console, electrical distribution box, strapdown inertial navigation system, gun control box, AC drive equipment, azimuth/elevation motor, azimuth/elevation sensor, firing angle limiter, semi-automatic control console, tilt sensor, data transmission radio, communication controller, and vehicle communication equipment. Additional components can be selected based on price to meet the needs of various levels of information-based warfare. The system is equipped with a positioning and orientation navigation device, enabling autonomous operation.

The SH5 features a spacious and comfortable driver’s cab. Its interior dashboard, fire control equipment, and control panels are rationally arranged and optimized according to the interior space. The cab has four doors: two in the front for the driver and gunner, and two in the rear for the three gunners, making crew access extremely convenient. The cab is equipped with heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, providing good passenger comfort in both hot and cold regions.
